The Evidence Basis for Chelation Therapy: Indications, Dose, Duration, and Outcomes

Audience: Occupational medicine physicians, emergency medicine physicians, internists, physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists.

Speaker: Jerrold B. Leikin MD, director of medical toxicology at NorthShore University HealthSystemOMEGA, Evanston, Highland Park, Skokie and Glenbrook Hospitals and also associate director of the Toxicon Consortium based at Stroger Hospital. He is a clinical professor of medicine at the Pritzker School of Medicine (University of Chicago), professor of medicine and pharmacology at Rush Medical College, and editor-in-chief of the primary care journal, Disease-a-Month, published by Elsevier.

Learning Objectives: 1) Improve clinical practice with respect to use of chelation therapy; 2) Knowledge of when and when not to use chelation therapy; 3) Knowledge of outcome differentials of various therapies for intoxications.
