Chicago Department of Health: Swine Influenza Update 18

H1N1 swine influenza activity has resulted in sporadic infections among healthcare workers (HCWs) at several Chicago institutions. Despite adherence to isolation precautions in the hospital setting, vigilant HCWs may still be exposed to H1N1 in the communities where they live. This guidance suggests parameters to help assess risk when making decisions about chemoprophylaxis of HCWs.

The New President of the Chicago Medical Society, 2010-2011

David A. Loiterman, MD is the new President of the Chicago Medical Society for 2010-2011

David A. Loiterman, MD, Oak Brook, was inaugurated as the Chicago Medical Society’s 162nd president during ceremonies on  May 11, at the CMS Annual Meeting held at Maggiano’s Banquets, Chicago. Dr. Loiterman is a vascular surgeon in solo practice, with staff appointments at LaGrange Memorial and Hinsdale Hospitals. 

He previously served on LaGrange Hospital’s Executive Committee and as Vice Chairman of its Department of Surgery.

CMS Students host "Great Debate" over health care reform
CMS medical students hosted a town hall forum on Jan. 21 at Northwestern University’s downtown campus to discuss issues, expectations and perspectives on health care reform.  Answering questions from nearly 100 students, four panelists shared their views on the public option, insurance reform, rationing and other issues that will affect students in the not-so-distant future.

CMS hosts student and resident networking social

The CMS-sponsored event was open to members of the Student District, Resident District, and the Young Physicians Group. What better way for future physicians to network than over a friendly game of pool?Camaraderie was in fine form for these students.
