The Chicago Medical Society and ABA Health Law Section are hosting a member benefit webinar, “Reopening Safely in the Time of COVID-19: Guidance for Deciding Whether to Reopen and Legal Implications of Reopening,” on Friday, May 22 at 12:00pm CT. The program will provide guidance and address legal implications for healthcare providers and health facilities considering whether it is safe for their practices to reopen. For those that are reopening, the program will cover the legal issues that should be considered and strategies that should be implemented to ensure healthcare providers and health facilities reopen safely.

The presentation will feature the following speakers:

Nalini Pande, Managing Director, Sappho Health Strategies, LLC – Ms. Pande has nearly 25 years of experience in health policy and health reform. She has worked as a consultant to the Obama Administration on health reform, emergency preparedness, and projects focused on improving the healthcare infrastructure, as well as special rules related to national emergencies, and pandemic flus. She previously worked at The Lewin Group as well as Foley & Lardner and Crowell & Moring. Ms. Pande also taught a graduate health policy course at Georgetown University as an Adjunct Professor. Ms. Pande is a graduate of Harvard Law School and Princeton's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.
Kyle Faget, Of Counsel. Foley & Lardner – Kyle Faget is Of Counsel at Foley & Lardner LLP. She is a member of the firm’s Health Care and Life Sciences Practice Groups and core member of the firm’s telemedicine industry team. Kyle regularly advises on state and federal laws and regulations applicable to telemedicine practices.

Robyn Diaz, SVP and Chief Legal Officer, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital – Robyn Diaz is Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Officer for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital where she oversees the legal affairs, technology transfer, compliance, internal audit, security, and government affairs departments. Before joining St. Jude, Robyn was a member of the in-house legal team at MedStar Health, served as an Adjunct Instructor with the Georgetown University School of Nursing and Health Studies, and was an attorney with Crowell & Moring, LLP. Robyn received a J.D. from Georgetown Law, B.A. from Brandeis University, and a Certificate in Executive Leadership for Healthcare Professionals from Cornell University.

Joseph Geraci, Partner, Husch Blackwell LLP Austin,Texas – Joe began his legal practice as in-house counsel for a psychiatric hospital system dealing firsthand with the challenges of healthcare operations. While physicians, hospitals and health systems focus on healing, Joe sorts through the nuts and bolts of hospital operations to help his clients make sense of the industry’s complex regulations and reimbursement rules. He is board certified in healthcare law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and has served in various positions in the Austin Bar Health Law Section, the Texas Bar Health Law Section, and the ABA Health Law Section.

Jason P. Lacey, Partner, Foulston Siefkin LLP – Jason P. Lacey is a partner with Foulston Siefkin LLP in Wichita, Kansas, practicing primarily in the areas of taxation, ERISA, employee benefits, and executive compensation. He represents both employers and service providers with respect to all aspects of employee benefit plan administration and compliance, with particular focus on self-insured health plans and consumer-directed plans. Jason is a contributing author to leading resources on Self-Insured Health Plans, Health Care Reform, and 1094/1095 Reporting published by Thomson Reuters/EBIA. He is a fellow in the American College of Tax Counsel and was named the 2014, 2017, and 2020 Wichita Employee Benefits “Lawyer of the Year” by Best Lawyers.

Lorinda Holloway, Partner, Husch Blackwell, LLP – Lorinda has been a passionate advocate for health care providers throughout most of her 24 year legal career. She began representing providers in medical negligence cases and expanding from there to include False Claims Act litigation, government investigations, business disputes, and serving as providers’ external general counsel.
