CMS Mini-internship: Senator gets docs-eye view

State Senator Christine Radogno toured the new office facilities of “mentor” Vickie Becker, MD, during a mini-internship at the Westchester MacNeal Physicians Group and the Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital.

Joining Senator Radogno and Dr. Becker were Brian Ralston, MD, medical staff president of MacNeal Hospital, and Esther Corpuz, executive director of the medical staff & external affairs.  The senator ignited conversation about the challenge of implementing electronic health records (EHRs) in physicians’ offices.  Dr. Ralston reported that his office is currently running a pilot EHR program.

Accompanied by Dr. Becker, Senator Radogno also met patients and toured the emergency room and ICU at Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital, in addition to meeting with ER physician Mark Moy, MD, and other hospital staff.

The event was hosted by CMS’ District 5.
