Physicians ‘Excited’ and ‘Concerned’ about Artificial Intelligence
AMA POLL:
The nations physicians are split on “the level of excitement and concern” when it comes to the use of artificial intelligence (AI), a new national survey conducted by the American Medical Association shows.
The AMA’s survey said 30% of respondents were “more excited than concerned” over the use of AI while nearly the same percentage – 29% were “more concerned than excited” about the use of AI. Meanwhile, 41% were equally concerned and excited, the physician survey showed.
The survey comes as AI is entering the lives of those involved in healthcare whether it be researchers and clinicians in a laboratory or physicians in their day-to-day practices where enthusiasm was the highest, according to the AMA survey. “Enthusiasm was highest for AI tools that help reduce administrative burdens, including documentation and prior authorization,” the AMA said.
